Application & Hands on Activity
Investigating Circle Theorems using Paper Folding
Using hands on activities in mathematics is a great tool in the classroom. It will allow students to investigate and develop their own knowledge and learn kinesthetically. This activity gives the students an opportunity to investigate circle theorems in groups through folding paper. The students will be using rulers and protractors to record various measurements and observing patterns and characteristics of circles. The theorems that are investigated in this activity are:
- The diameter of a circle is twice the radius
- Measure of an arc is related to the measure of the central angle.
- The sum of a circles central angles is 360
- Measure of an inscribed angle is half the measure of the central angle.
